fake vgcats strip

Posted in apr 2006_jar, vgcats_jar on July 8, 2008 by jarosh

i still can’t believe anyone ever thought this was real. at no point during the creation of this ridiculous fake strip did i expect anyone to buy into this.

it was supposed to be a parody of everything that’s wrong with vgcats. quite a few posters on gaf thought this was an actual strip. it was also picked up by various gaming sites and other message boards and posted as the “new vgcats strip”. come on, it’s such a sloppy photoshop and it simply re-uses old panels from various strips; hell, the comic pokes fun at vgcats’ overuse of panels and juvenile (penis) jokes. that should have been one of the most obvious giveaways.

training games for the ds

Posted in apr 2006_jar, boxart_jar, ds_jar on July 7, 2008 by jarosh

this was kinda fun. i made this thread on gaf in april 2006, the brain age craze had just started:

nintendo to re-release entire ds library as “training games” – first boxarts inside

the first paragraph read:

after the huge success of ‘brain training’/'brain age’ games in japan, nintendo has decided to re-release, re-name and re-market their entire software lineup, starting with these eight titles:

actually, here’s a link to the said topic:

vgcats, the beginning

Posted in apr 2006_jar, vgcats_jar on July 7, 2008 by jarosh

vgcats sucks. i think we can all agree on that. this was my first encounter with it. some guy in that thread simply asked for someone to “please make the goddamn strip funny, somehow”. by deleting all the text and photoshopping garfield into the strip i think i clearly achieved that goal.
